After high school Johnny was awarded a wrestling scholarship to Willmar, Minnesota. After a wrestling injury Johnny decided it was time to move on where he enlisted in the Army National Guard Reserve for a four year term. Due to Johnny’s father’s illness Johnny returned home and attended Adams State College where his goal was to be a teacher and coach. Johnny changed his coaching plans and begin teaching himself the art of upholstery in his living room by night and a brick mason by day. Johnny then decided he would purse upholstery full time where he began his business in 1989. With many years and hard work and dedication Johnny became nationally recognized for his beautiful custom interior creations. Johnny than expanded his business and began to complete custom hot rod builds. In 2011 Johnny was recognized at the Detroit Autorama show in which he received a Great 8 Ridler award for restoring a 1962 Corvette named Elegance. In 2018, a 1957 Chevy “Imagine” took the Riddler prize.
Shops and street rods were my childhood and have since been in my eye. Working in the shop since I was young sweeping floors until utilizing years of skill to create true art in these vehicles such as a sought after Ridler Great Eight car, I push to have a great future in this industry. Continuing on in the adventure of a growing and successful business, I work on nearly all assets of the build from fabrication of body and chassis, paint and body, interior and overall design. Currently working in the shop I also attend Adams State University and hope to receive my degree within two years. Though, having a heavy hand in the shop but in travels as well, I keep busy when away from the building at various shows, events, and special occasions to lead by example with our quality of person and product.
